September 2 Weekly Open Thread: The Leafy Labor Day Mystery Edition
We open this Labor Day holiday week opens with a mystery. . . . .
As you can see, it's been partially devegetated by the property owners (my in-laws); previously it had been entirely covered in blackberry and ivy. It got there as a result of a divorce gone bad, the owner having abandoned it in the proceedings and left it there for his former family to deal with. It's been sitting there a good two years now, enough time for the vegetation to envelop it entirely. Sadly, one door had been left slightly open for several months during the rainy season and the interior is very nearly ruined.
It's really too bad, as it wasn't in that bad a condition early on. I've toyed with the idea of offering to get it running, possibly use it as a "project vehicle" to learn on, and maybe even use it as a field vehicle or eventually go all the way with a full restoration. Probably beyond my abilities (and wallet) to warrant it though. But who knows. I'm not sure what the folks' plans are for it, though probably to have it towed away to a vehicle donation program. But if anyone out there (and in the Seattle area) wants to tow it away and have a go at it, I'm sure they'd be amenable, so contact us here at Car Lust if you have a mind to do something with this poor orphaned truck.
And feel free to discuss anything else auto- or Labor-related.
