Carspotters' Challenge #45--Shopping Expedition

On a sunny day in the 1970s, Mom and the kids head into town for a shopping expedition.

"Bell bottom blues, don't say goodbye...." --Eric ClaptonNo information on where this is or who they are, but it's obviously a smaller town in a hilly part of the country. The facial expressions and body language of the three kids convey a lot of personality. If I were teaching creative writing, I'd use this photo as a story prompt.

As for the cars, the station wagon is a gimmie, but you'll have to work for the rest.

Dang, a couple of those vehicles didn't change much, like the yellow VW Fastback and the blue and white Chevy/GMC pickup, so it's hard to pick their exact year.

But I'd recognize a green '72 Chevy anywhere.

First row: red 74 Ford LTD Country Squire, green 72 Chevy Caprice, powder blue (white?) early 70s VW fastback

The only other 2 I can tell are the dark blue International Travelall and the blue/white Chevy pickup parked beside each other.

I once owned a Chrysler wagon of that vintage and I remember it being the length of an aircraft carrier. Big old 440 V-8 with a four barrel carb. I think it struggled to get 10 mpg on a good day. But I sure could haul a ton of stuff in the back.

Blue and white pickup is at least a '73 Chevy or GMC.

Those kids are my age, now.

Is that an orange Dodge Club Cab parked on the street behind the Blue and white GM pickup and the Travelall?

It got a little confusing after 74. Not sure of the year. Is that an LTD country squire or a Torino based squire?

peter that's an LTD Country Squire

Having a hard time seeing anything past that hot mom
