April 23 Weekly Open Thread--Welcome to Show Cars Week
Show cars. Sometimes they're the shape of things to come,...
...sometimes they're signposts pointing to a road not taken.
...or to give the wild-eyed crazy people in the styling studio a way to blow off steam...
...before they get back to worrying about more practical issues, such as where to put the cupholders in that new crossover that comes out next year.
Other show cars were intended for production, but never made it to the assembly line...
...while certain ones should never have been allowed to escape the drawing board.
This week, we're going to be taking a look at some of the more interesting show cars, including a couple that have a personal connection to Car Lust contributor Virgil M. Exner Jr. We'll get cracking on our theme tomorrow. In the meantime, this thread is the place you can, ahem, show off on any random topic you like.

I've seen three of the above cars in person (If one counts the Aztec as a car), and the two unmarketed cars are stunning in person.
It's a shame some show cars don't make it to the showrooms.

I had a toy Studebaker Sceptre about 35 years ago. It was an old hand-me-down then, and I think that it had been broken into a convertible at some point. I really liked the styling and the wheels even then though.
