Car Lust Sweepstakes: Win an Actron PocketScan Plus
A couple of weeks ago I put up a short post describing our cool new e-mail subscription feature that allows you to read all of Car Lust's scintillating content from the privacy of your own inbox. Well, if that wasn't enough incentive on its own, our blog team thought it would be neat to give something tangible to our e-mail subscribers--in this case, an Actron PocketScan Plus code scanner. You can sign up immediately to the right of this post on the Car Lust blog, or click here.
If you're not sure what that is, check out the product link. Basically, it's an on-board diagnostic code scanner. If your car is displaying a check engine light, for example, you plug in this tool, and it displays the car's trouble code. Look up the code online, and you'll know what the problem is. Code scanners are must-have tools for the serious DIY shadetree enthusiast, but even if you take your car in to the shop, it's nice to be educated on the problem behind the check engine light before you throw yourself on the shop's tender mercies.
We thought this was a nice fit as a prize, since this tool could could conceivably help keep a neat older car on the road. Not too old, though, since only cars 1996 and newer are advanced enough to interface with the tool. So if you're nursing along a rapidly disintegrating 1975 Impala, this tool won't really help you.
If you don't particularly like this prize for some reason, (perhaps it's the wrong shade of orange for your tastes) make sure you check out the other Amazon blogs. They're all giving away their own schwag, from a mixer to an external hard drive.
If you're already a subscriber to our e-mail newsletter, don't worry--we won't penalize you for being an early adopter. Just sign up with the same e-mail address you signed up with before.
Sign up and read the official sweepstakes rules. No purchase necessary. Enter by March 23, 2009. See official rules for details.

Yeah, that was intriguing - but it's a shame how anticlimactic it was.

I actually bought a mens wedding dress with my winnings [deleting spam, retaining the entertaining part] ...and by men's I mean my main man, and by main man I mean my cat, and by dress I mean I bought my cat , Morris, a wedding dress. Horray for expendable income!
