People love angry cars ...
Some people do, at least. My question is this--where in this article is the mention of overblown action movie quotes?
For those who aren't aware, we've been honoring the most over-the-top, ridiculously angry cars we can find (1, 2, 3, 4). I'm a little disappointed because the article uses as its example the current BMW 5-series--which I was planning to feature as our next angry car. Oh, well, the cat's out of the bag.

If your taking nominees, I nominate the Dodge Stealth. At 3800 lbs, it's the original angry, fat, and cramped coupe.

I think the cross cultural results will be interesting. There's been a lot of research demonstrating that attractiveness in people has some near-universal properties -- i.e., Ethiopians to Inuits all pretty much agree on what constitutes an attractive person -- so whether this will apply to objects as well should give more insight into how people think.
I like the eye monitoring idea as well. I don't know if anyone's done this sort of thing for cars or any other consumer device. I recall it being done for car interior design, tracking where people look and for how long when they are driving. I'd be surprised if that didn't influence the placement of controls and what not.
Pretty neat.

I always thought of the 5 series as more "Romulan" than "angry."
