Welcome to CarLustBlog.com

I am proud, and slightly teary, to announce that Car Lust is the latest Amazon.com blog to hit the big time--in other words, to get our own little sandbox away from the cozy confines of Amazon Daily.

That new sandbox is www.carlustblog.com--now the definitive repository of all of your favorite over-long odes to awful cars. You can still read our posts at Amazon Daily just as you do now, or you can read or RSS from carlustblog.com directly. Both work--but either way, if you want to comment, your comment will surface on the new blog, not in Amazon Daily.

There are several improvements that we hope you'll notice immediately. For one thing, you can subscribe to e-mail updates. For another, we now have our very own e-mail address for your feedback. And, perhaps most significantly, navigating our archives and finding the car you've been looking for has never been easier. Now finding my ridiculous insightful post about the Ford Pinto's cultural significance has never been easier.

The downside is that we couldn't find a way to bring over all of the archived comments from Amazon to the new blog. Since we've had some fantastic comments, I'm very saddened by that. Still, I'm pleased that going forward all of our comments will be in one place-I think we'll have some even better conversations as a result.

So, why are we doing this? As we in the Amazon.com Auto Parts store often do, I'll borrow some brilliance from our big brothers and sisters in Books. As they said when they launched Omnivoracious.com:

Why a new blog (or why the old blog in a new place)? We'd like to reach people outside the Amazon universe more easily (which, it's true, assumes that there is anyone outside the Amazon universe at this point). And we also know that when you are on Amazon there are, give or take, about 100,000 blurbs and headlines and reviews and photos and videos and buy buttons and HDTVs and instant cocoas vying for your attention at any time, and, while we like being part of that mix, we also liked the idea of a place outside that exists by itself, more clearly, as a blog about books.

Or, in our case, uniquely terrible cars.

Glad you're moving up. I just added your rss to BlogNetNews.com/autos so the first paragraph of your latest posts will appear in our feed and be searchable in the auto blogosphere search engine.

...So the firefox browser supports an RSS live bookmark - that solves the RSS thing on at least one browser. Too bad safari does not have those live rss book mark things... oh sorry just mumbling to myself :)

Well congrats on the new format. Its the new year, so a new start. Pity about the comments. We'll all have to go back and have those wonderful conversations all over again. The dialog surrounding the Pinto was certainly a high point! I miss the old days - but the new blog looks great. Now - time for more articles about great and not so great cars - we need fresh meat!
