What does one say about the Mercedes-Benz 300SL that hasn't already been said?
That
it was one of the very first exotic high-tech supercars, in a 1950s
climate of stagnant technical development? That in a sea of me-too cars
all shaped like inverted bathtubs, the 300SL's gorgeous lines captured
the imagination of millions? That its at-the-limit performance would
shame sports cars made 20 to 30 years later? That it was among the
first post-war cars to truly marry high performance with high style and
luxury? That its gullwing doors would leave generations of adolescents
gasping and gawking? That its no-compromises combination of slinky
looks, advanced technology, and high performance make it remarkably
modern for a car more than a half-century old?
Frankly,
all of that is a given, so I'll leave it at this--the 300SL was the
abstract concept of perfection, rendered tangible with sheet metal and
chrome.

I wouldn't mind having one of those.it's simply gorgeous.cars nowadays can't reach the standard of those in 50'-70' .
